WHAT I DO

ONCOLOGY PHYSIOTHERAPY

What exactly is Oncology Physiotherapy?

Your Oncologist or surgeon should refer you to an oncology physiotherapist as soon as you are diagnosed with any form of cancer. As a physio, we take the time to explain what you can expect from your treatment, the order of events, and how it will effect your body over the next few months. I will give you strategies and a plan to manage and hopefully reduce these side effects, and help you take control of what you can control. It’s empowering to know what your body can actually do during treatment, and that you can have an impact on how you respond and recover. I will also ensure you have an exercise program specific to your diagnosis and personal requirements, throughout and after your treatment.

WHAT I DO

YOGA & PILATES

I offer individualised and group classes in Yoga and Pilates, or a combination of both. Exercising at a lower intensity and focusing on strength, flexibility and stability, has shown to actually boost the immune system. We all know exercise is good for us. Yoga has also had amazing effects on Lymphoedema, tried and trusted in India.

Group classes are small and intimate, everyone is at a similar level of fitness, and I ensure you are safely exercising within your limits at all times.

Individual treatments always involve some form of a home exercise program, but if you are looking for a bit of team motivation, then let me know and I’ll find the right class for you to join. Besides the physical benefits, I firmly believe that “Laughter is the best Medicine”.
